SAMBA-CORÉE at the Jeonju African Film Festival

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, SAMBA-CORÉE continued its exploration of cultural crossroads by organizing a significant trip to Jeonju to attend a special program of the African Film Festival at the Jeonju Cine Complex. Members gathered around 5:00 PM for an event that reflected the association’s commitment to diversifying the experiences offered to its community while promoting the visibility of African cultures across the Korean peninsula.

The main objective of this outing was to enrich the cinematic and social awareness of SAMBA-CORÉE members. Through the screening of several films from the African continent, the association sought to spark meaningful conversations, celebrate the creativity of filmmakers who remain largely underrepresented in Korea, and create a space for reflection on African stories and identities. Beyond its educational dimension, the event also provided a shared emotional experience and allowed a new member to connect more closely with the association.

The afternoon at the Jeonju Cine Complex was marked by a rich and varied program, ranging from powerful documentaries to contemporary fiction films. Some screenings were followed by informal discussions, giving participants the opportunity to exchange impressions and insights. The central location of the cinema complex facilitated coordination, enabling members to gather easily before entering the screening rooms. Despite the usual weekend crowd and weather conditions, the logistical organization, including transportation to Jeonju and ticket coordination, was handled efficiently, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.

The impact of this participation was immediate and encouraging. Animated conversations continued after the screenings, and several members expressed interest in organizing film club sessions within the association. The presence and attire of the President contributed to creating a warm and family-oriented atmosphere among members, reinforcing the idea that SAMBA-CORÉE is, above all, a community built on solidarity and shared identity. This initiative once again demonstrated the association’s ability to deliver activities with strong cultural value while strengthening internal bonds.

The participation in the African Film Festival in Jeonju was a complete success, both culturally and socially. This event confirms once again that SAMBA-CORÉE goes beyond celebration; it actively promotes reflection, cultural exchange, and the sharing of knowledge, upholding the values of curiosity, openness, and unity that define the association.
