From May 12th to 14th, 2024, World Taekwondo (WT) organized a training camp for referees and coaches who are likely to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This training camp aimed to enhance the skills of taekwondo referees by helping them review the rules governing combat competitions together.
The participants reviewed the latest adjustments to the competition rules, focusing particularly on the equipment used for the Olympic Games, such as the KPNP electronic protection system. Additionally, the camp addressed the proper attitude to adopt on the field, actions to avoid, and the correct use of the protest card to manage disputes during matches.
The goal of this training was to enable participants to approach the Olympic Games with more assurance and confidence. Among the coaches present, national coach Stéphane Moundounga Kombila, gold medalist at the 2011 Pan African Games and bronze medalist at the 2009 African Taekwondo Championships, was notably mentioned as a coach for the Olympic Games.
The Gabonese community in the Republic of South Korea, through its association Samba-Corée, wishes our compatriot much courage and success in his continued journey as a coach at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In conclusion, this joint training camp marks an important step in the preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. By bringing these key players together, World Taekwondo ensures a uniform understanding of the rules and expectations, thereby guaranteeing a high-quality and fair competition for all participants.
