On May 18th, 2024, a working meeting was held at the embassy, chaired by His Excellency Ambassador Carlos Victor BOUNGOU. The meeting focused on two main points: the report on the “Africa Culture Festival” which took place from May 10th to 12th, 2024, and the preparation for the upcoming Seoul Friendship Festival (SFF).
Report on the Africa Culture Festival
The Ambassador expressed his great satisfaction with the participation and representation provided by the Samba-Corée Association during the “Africa Culture Festival”. He congratulated the efforts of the association and shared the general satisfaction of all the diplomatic corps members present, highlighting the excellent organization of the event.
The attending members then detailed the various challenges encountered during the festival and the measures taken to overcome them. Among the noted challenges were logistical constraints and the need for additional resources. Despite these obstacles, the common sentiment was that the event was a success and that it was essential to learn from this experience to improve future events.
Preparation for the Seoul Friendship Festival
Regarding the upcoming Seoul Friendship Festival, the Ambassador and his team strongly encouraged the association to represent Gabon with dignity. They assured their multifaceted support to ensure the success of this participation. Their support will include logistical, financial resources, and strategic guidance to prominently showcase Gabonese culture.
Donation of a Punu Mask
To address a material, need and enrich the cultural heritage diversity of the association, the First Counselor generously donated a Punu mask. This mask will complement our collection and strengthen our ability to faithfully represent the richness of Gabonese culture. The purchase of new equipment was also discussed during this meeting. Discussions were held on the specific material needs to improve our performances and presentations at future events.
Organization of a Gabonese Cultural Event
Finally, the Ambassador mentioned the possibility of organizing a purely Gabonese cultural event in a museum. This event would be dedicated to the presentation and promotion of Gabonese culture. The organization of this event will be discussed in more detail during our upcoming meetings to ensure careful planning and successful execution. This meeting was marked by constructive exchanges and a common determination to promote Gabonese culture with pride and excellence.
